Canvas

Canvas is the visual workspace where you compose retrieval workflows by connecting nodes. Each node represents an operation: Ask, Ingest, Watch, Reserve, Dependency, or Proof. You drag nodes onto the canvas and wire them together to build multi-step knowledge workflows without writing code.

An Ask node queries the knowledge base and returns cited results. Wire its output into a Reserve node to pin the answer for monitoring. Wire a Watch node to the reserved answer and it will alert you when the underlying sources change. Add a Dependency node between two Ask results to track when one answer depends on another.

Canvas workflows are saved per tenant and can be shared with team members. Each node shows its current status: idle, running, complete, or alerted. When a Watch fires or a dependency breaks, the affected nodes highlight so you can see exactly where the chain broke.

The layout is freeform. You can arrange nodes spatially to mirror your mental model of how knowledge flows through your organisation. Group related nodes, add labels, and collapse branches you are not actively working on. Canvas is the surface where all of VaultCrux's capabilities become tangible and composable.
